All-Continental League boys soccer

The list for the 2010 boys soccer season All-Continental League selections are in, and it’s not surprise that Mountain Vista, being the Class 5A state runner up, and ThunderRidge, which made the semifinals, have plenty of selections to boast about.

First-team selections were very kind to Vista, but among the honorees was Castle View defender Hector Porragas. Chaparral also had plenty of players among the mix. The Wolverines had striker William Davis, defender Sean Salansky, midfielder Stephan Salansky and midfielder Ben Smith among its nods.

Douglas County defender Jeremy Baldyga and striker Dustin Berg were selected, as well as Heritage’s midfielder Brian Chamberlain, striker Tanner Swenson and midfielder Isaac Witte.

From Highlands Ranch, Michael O’Neal was an honoree, while Vista’s striker Jordan Anner, defender Nick Black, midfielder Tidiane Dia, defender Hunter McElyea and goalkeeper Trevor Obering. Ponderosa’s defender Hunter Britegam, striker Pat LaPorta and midfielder Jordan Spring were also first-team selections.

Dia and Berg shared the league’s Player of the Year honors.

Among second-team nods, Castle View had midfielder Parker Smith and striker Mike Thomas. Chaparral’s defender Nick Daily and striker Hunter Nail were both selected. County’s goalkeeper Grant Melo and defender Tanner Reinhart were selected. Heritage’s defender Gaines Adams, midfielder Jacob Peterson and striker Jeff Whitney were honored. Highlands Ranch midfielder Ryan Lord got a nod, while Legend midfielder Tyler Neate receivd the same. Littleton’s defender Kevin Fennelly was also second team.

From Vista, striker Dominic Pacheco and midfielder Luke Woodruff were honored, while in their first post-season of Class 5A action, Rock Canyon midfielder David Bolt and defender Matt Morgan were second-team selections.

ThunderRidge, in their exciting late season run to the 5A semifinals, had five of its players among the Continental second-team selections. Among them were midfielder Tyler Buck, striker Nick Campbell, defender Thomas Clukies, midfielder Lexington Leitmayer and goalkeeper Nick Mabry.
