Laura Esler said she brought a photograph of first lady Michelle
Obama’s arms to show Dr. David Broadway, Lone Tree plastic surgeon,
to her consultation appointment.
“I knew it wouldn’t be exactly the same, but it was a good
guideline,” Esler said.
So in February, Esler had the procedure, VASER Hi Def
liposuction performed on her arms by Broadway, a triple
board-certified plastic surgeon.
“This is an area a lot of patients do not ask about because they
don’t know it is available,” Broadway said.
Both Broadway and his partner, Dr. John Millard are the only two
surgeons in Colorado performing VASER Hi Def lipo, taking basic
liposuction procedures to the extreme and allowing patients to
obtain results different from conventional liposuction.
“What we have done in the past makes patients smaller, flatter,”
Broadway said. “This procedure makes them look more athletic, by
working on the underlying contour.”
The procedure, pioneered by Colombian surgeon Dr. Alfredo Hoyas,
allows the surgeon to remove precise areas of fat cells while
abstaining from other areas to increase the visibility of the
underlying muscles. The patient achieves more defined, muscular
detail and a more dramatic aesthetic appearance.
Both plastic surgeons, Broadway and Millard, are national and
international instructors who teach courses to other surgeons who
are eager to learn the latest advancements in body sculpting
procedures. Broadway said they have trained all over the world,
including Argentina, Europe and Japan.
The bod:evolve facility was designed by Broadway and Millard to
offer not only their patients a state-of-the-art facility where
cosmetic procedures could be performed, but a training and
educational institution for other surgeons as well.
“The surgeons can become licensed here, get trained, hands-on,”
Broadway said.
The advanced technology at bod:evolve includes a technical
system that allows the instructor to perform surgery in the Renewal
Surgery Center, while surgeons attending the course are viewing the
advanced techniques via satellite in their main conference
room.
Broadway said his career is not only a profession, but he
considers it a gift.
Utilizing his talents, Broadway is an avid supporter of
Operation Smile.
“I have gone overseas to the Philippines for example, and have
helped those who would never have been able to help themselves,”
Broadway said. “A mother and daughter had cleft lips and in a
matter of two hours, were repaired.”
Other countries, Broadway has volunteered his expertise, or
“God-given talent” as he calls it, have included Thailand, China,
Ecuador and Russia.
