Boys wrestling: Northglenn's Rodriguez heads to state tourney

BRIGHTON -- Northglenn High School will send two of its wrestlers to the state 5A wrestling tournament, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Ball Arena in Denver.

Anthony Rodriguez can finish no worse than second at 106 pounds. He earned his ticket to the state meet by pinning Prairie View's Ben Peterson in 3:26 of the semifinals.

Miles Brugger took third at 160 pounds. He had to win two straight matches after his loss in the semifinal round.

James Escalera Jr. took fifth at 113 pounds. Johnny Escalera wound up fifth at 120 pounds. Miles Brugger (160) and Mason Mazzuca (285) finished fifth in their weight classes.

The Norse took ninth in the team standings.
