Enter the haggis-tasting tent and the bonny knees contest at the
Scottish Heritage Festival during Western Welcome Week.
The festival runs 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Aug. 9 at Highland Heritage Park, 9651 S. Quebec St., Highlands
Ranch.
Musicians include world -class fiddler Seamus Connolly, local
Celts Skean Dubh, Oceans Apart, Loretta Thompson, Angus Moore and
U2 tribute Under a Blood Red Sky.
Highland games and athletic competitions commence at 9 a.m. both
days. Dancing — Highland, country and Irish step — and hot piping
contests also happen both days.
The bonny knees contest is at 1 p.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, a tug o’ war competition will be held at 1 p.m. and
Sword of the Rockies competition will be at 3 p.m.
Daily tickets for the Highland Games are $15 for children 13 and
older and $12 for seniors and children 7-12.
Children under 7 are free.
