Oct. 2

Karate Drop-in is from 9-10 a.m. Saturdays starting Oct. 2 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Green Belt level and above purchase drop-in admission at the front desk and participate in supervised practice sessions, enhancing skills and perfecting technique.

Oct. 2-30

Yamaha Keyboard Encounters is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from Oct. 2-30 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Ascertain skills to play a portable grand digital piano sooner than you ever thought possible. After the very first class you will be able to play a least one song. $20 material fee due to instructor the first day of class. Students study in a group and must bring their own earphones. Ages 6 to adult.

Oct. 6

NIA Dance Drop-in is from 9:15-10:10 a.m. Wednesdays starting Oct. 6 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Experience the delight of dance, gratification of a workout and serenity of meditation using low-impact, barefooted technique that blends dance, martial arts and body integration. Adults.

Oct. 8

The Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra’s A Walk on the Dark Side concert is at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 8 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lone Tree. A donation of $5 for admission is sincerely appreciated. We recommend arriving early, as seating often fills up quickly. Visit www.lonetreesymphony.org.

Oct. 9 and 23

Rec and Rock for Youth is from 7-11 p.m. Oct. 9 and 23 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. In addition to themed activities and contests, swimming is available along with DJ and dancing, basketball and other gym activities plus concessions. This is a supervised, secure program. Ages 10-14.

Oct. 11 through Nov. 15

Irish Step Dance is from 4:15-6:15 p.m. Mondays from Oct. 11 through Nov. 15 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Gain knowledge of the basic components of the most popular Irish dances and work them into solo and group performance pieces. Ages 5 to adult.

Oct. 16

Movie Night is from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 16 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Kids enjoy pizza dinner, popcorn, animal crackers and juice while watching an age-appropriate move. Bring a pillow, blanket or stuffed animal. Program supervised by trained child care staff members. Ages 3-12.

Oct. 17

Junior Symphony Guild is at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Children ages 6 and under engage first-hand with orchestral music. The audience sits on the floor surrounded by musicians and are treated to well-known repertoire from “Looney Tunes” to Beethoven. A Passport to Culture Event presented by Lone Tree Arts Commission. All ages.

Oct. 18

Colorado Ballot 2010. The fall 2010 Colorado ballot promises to stir up strong emotions in the state. With a variety of complex issues coming to a vote, it is important that we understand the ballot and what is at stake. Join Active Minds from 7-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Lone Tree Library, 8827 Lone Tree Parkway, for an objective review of the ballot issues and a presentation of the arguments on each side of the proposals. Oct. 18

Missoula Children’s Theatre “The Frog Prince” auditions will be from 4-6 p.m. Oct. 18 at Lone Tree Elementary, 9375 Heritage Hills Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for costs. Be a part of a world-renowned MCT full-scale production with music, costumes, sets, lights and sound. Successful audition participants plan to register and pay for the class after auditions. Oct. 26 through Dec. 7

Sewing 101 will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 26 through Dec. 7 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle. Visit www.sspr.org for cost. Learn how to set up your sewing machine, understand and cut patterns, comprehend basic vocabulary and much more. Students will complete one finished project by the end of session. Nov. 14

Guitarist Performs. Award-winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher performs a diverse program of music from four centuries at 2 p.m. Nov. 14 at Lone Tree Recreation Center, 10249 Ridgegate Circle, Lone Tree. Free and open to the public.
