Colorado's best foods to be at 'Feast'

Posted

Douglas County School District students, the Douglas County Educational Foundation, DCSD's Nutrition Services, and the Colorado Chefs to Move program will celebrate the fall harvest at Feast in the Field from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at Civic Green Park in Highlands Ranch. Admission is $50 per person; $75 per family.

A variety of foods from Colorado’s farmers and ranchers, prepared by the best chefs in Colorado, will be served. Sample succulent beef dishes and roasted Colorado lamb, sink your teeth into freshly grilled Colorado sweet corn, delight in local dairy products, taste unique specialty foods, enjoy Douglas County school garden veggies, and savor delicious desserts.

“Feast in the Field” celebrates the bounty of Colorado’s agriculture by featuring nearly 40 of the state's best food producers. Colorado chefs are volunteering their time and talent to pair with Colorado producers who have donated their products to bring Douglas County parents and guests the best of the best Colorado has to offer. Stroll from tent to tent to fill your plate. Both chefs and producers will provide information about the food they are preparing, offer recipes and answer questions about what is grown, raised and processed in Colorado.

The event proceeds are an investment in the Douglas County School District and the Chefs Move to Schools program. This initiative is a partnership between Colorado schools, American Culinary Federation chef members and Colorado Proud. The chefs work with school districts and foodservice employees to provide tasty, nutritious, healthy meals while working with local growers and ranchers.
