Residents are invited to attend one of seven public meetings,
the public input from which will guide Douglas County’s efforts to
update its 1998 Parks, Trails and Open Space Master Plan, specific
to the community’s goals, values and needs for the next 20 to 30
“County residents identify parks, trails and open space as some
of the county’s most significant amenities contributing to the
quality of life within the county,” said Joe Fowler, chief planner
and project manager for the master-plan process. “This process
affords citizens the ability to communicate their own vision and
needs for these important resources.”
Public meetings, all beginning at 6:30 p.m., are scheduled for
Feb. 8, Franktown Fire Station Community Room, 1959 N. State
Highway 83, Franktown; Feb. 10, West Douglas Firehouse, 4037 Platte
Ave., Sedalia; Feb. 16 Larkspur Fire Protection District, 9414 S.
Spruce Mountain Road, Larkspur; Feb. 17, Roxborough Primary School
Cafeteria, 8000 Village Circle West, Roxborough; Feb. 22, Douglas
County Philip S. Miller Building, 100 Third St., Castle Rock; Feb.
24, Iron Horse Elementary School Cafeteria, 20151 Tallman Drive,
Parker; and March 1, Recreation Center at Southridge, 4800 McArthur
Ranch Road, Highlands Ranch.
Meetings will include a staff presentation about the 1998 Plan
followed by resident discussion and comment.
