Such an awesome quote found in an incredibly inspiring book. And
please do not be misled by the title as this short and powerful
book first printed in 1968 and well beyond its 50th printing
contains an amazingly powerful message for anyone on a mission to
succeed. It is an 89-page parable that I am confident will make a
difference in your life too, especially if you have a desire for
success.
I have already read this book several times, and even though I
have combed each page for new nuggets every time I have opened it
in the past, and have highlighted much of the text, I still find
insights that I somehow missed or just didn’t allow to sink in
during previous readings. You know how it goes right? It’s like
watching the same movie for the third time and hearing an important
or funny line that you previously missed. For me it was
specifically found in Chapter 8, page 41 of the above mentioned
book.
The very first sentence in that chapter reads “Today I begin a
new life.” I must have read this sentence a dozen times or more
before. And as I read the book again last night I found myself
totally focused on this one sentence and must have read it and
re-read it a dozen more times before the night was over. “Today I
begin a new life.” Wow.
Let me put this in the right context. It’s not that I need a new
life, but just like all of you, I am always striving for growth.
And if I can get my head and heart around the fact that each day is
not only a new day, it is a new opportunity to re-energize myself
and my resolve to not just meet my goals and objectives, but to
wildly exceed them if I can.
None of us can turn back the hands of time to create a brand new
yesterday, but every day, yes every day, we find ourselves at the
doorstep of a brand new today. It’s ours for the taking and ours
for making the absolute most out of. Today as you read this
remember that all failures are forgotten, each mistake forgiven,
and we can set our sights clearly on our future successes.
Success has been defined as the realization of a worthy goal.
Our accomplishments can be team driven and our achievements can
also be very personal. Each of us gets to define our own success,
what we really want and why we want it. We get to set expectations
around how determined and how passionate we will be in the pursuit
of our dreams and goals. And we get to start each day with a new
slate in our endeavor to achieve success and the wonderful
sensation that comes along with a renewed spirit.
“Failure will never overtake me as long as my determination to
succeed is strong enough.”
Thanks again for all the emails, keep them coming. I would love
to hear all about your determination and drive at

good week.
