New 24 Hour Fitness

Area residents can start the new year off on the right foot with a little help from the new 24 Hour Fitness South Parker club, opening this holiday season.

The 24 Hour Fitness South Parker club grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 11445 Twenty Mile Road, Parker,. The free celebration will include club tours, prize drawings, group training demonstrations, GX24 studio classes and more.

The South Parker club is the 32nd club in the state. It is 35,936 square feet and will feature GX24 and cycle studios, classes included with membership, virtual classes available on demand, group training programs, cardio and strength machines, court for basketball and other sports, indoor lap pool and more. Kiddie Academy now open

Kiddie Academy, a nationally recognized provider of educational child care programs, has opened its Lone Tree location at 10344 Park Meadows Drive in Lone Tree.

“Here at Kiddie Academy, our goal is to embrace every experience as a teachable moment and an invaluable opportunity for young children to learn,” Janelle Armendariz, director of Kiddie Academy of Lone Tree, said in a news release. “My team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality educational child care possible to positively shape the lives of the children and families of the Lone Tree community.”

The 11,000-square-foot location is expected to serve 187 students ages 6 weeks to 12 years old in the area and is bringing approximately 45 new jobs to the community. The academy also features a large outdoor play area.

Planet Fitness opens

The first Planet Fitness club in Littleton is now open at 2831 W. Belleview Ave.

The 22,000-square-foot club offers cardio machines and strength equipment, 30-minute express circuit, fully equipped locker rooms with day lockers and showers, numerous flat-screen televisions, HydroMassage beds, massage chairs, tanning beds, a Total Body Enhancement booth, and more. The club is opened 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We're thrilled to bring our judgment free fitness experience to Littleton,” Planet Fitness franchisee Jason Jost said in a news release. “Whether you've never belonged to a gym before or you're an existing gym member looking to try a new facility, we encourage you to come check out the Littleton club, meet our friendly PF team members, get a tour and see what the Judgement Free Zone is all about. We're confident that our encouraging and hassle-free environment will be a welcome addition to the community.”

New communications director

Denver South Transportation Management Association has named Sheryl Machado as director of communications and public affairs, leading the organization's communications, government relations and community outreach efforts.

“I am elated to join this team of seasoned professionals who are committed to making a difference and moving the transportation needle in the Denver South region,” Machado said in a news release.

Machado joins the team with experience in Colorado's transportation sector focusing heavily on media and stakeholder relations, communications, coalition building and public information. She brings knowledge of Colorado's public and private sectors, government entities and managing public-involvement programs in varied transportation based, large-scale projects and more.

Machado worked as a senior associate at GBSM in Denver for three years, where she specialized in media outreach and strategy, public involvement and grass roots programs. She worked with clients including The City and County of Denver, The Regional Transportation District, The City of Greenwood Village, E-470, Jefferson Parkway, CDOT and many others.

Before working at GBSM, Machado worked with RTD on the Southeast Rail Extension and various FasTracks projects, as well as a public relations manager leading engagement for projects including the US 36 Express Lanes, State Highway 58 and I-70, Ridge Gate Parkway and the Milton E. Proby project in Colorado Springs.

New homes in Parker

Stone Creek Ranch, a new KB Home master-planned community in Parker, is now open, featuring proposed resort-style amenities and homes starting in the $400,000s.

“Our Stone Creek Ranch neighborhood is a picturesque reserve of personalized new homes, where homebuyers can enjoy serene Front Range living at an attractive price,” Randy Carpenter, president of KB Home's Colorado division, said in a news release. “The master-planned community is expected to host several proposed amenities, including a clubhouse with entertainment space, fitness center and pool, all surrounded by the area's natural beauty.”
