City officials are welcoming the public to a grand opening
celebration for the Lone Tree Tennis Center and Park from 11 a.m.
to 2 p.m. May 1 at 9810 Sunningdale Blvd., next to the Lone Tree
Golf Club and Hotel.
The event is being combined with the city’s Arbor Day event,
which was canceled last week because of a spring snow storm. Arbor
Day festivities kick off at 9 a.m. and go until noon. The schedule
of events includes flower sales, tree and plant pick up, an herb
planting activity for children, and birds of prey presentations.
The only activity that will not proceed is a hike originally
planned along Willow Creek trail.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches about the new tennis
facility and park begin at 11 a.m.
Tennis competitions, activities and giveaways start around 11:15
a.m. Participants are encouraged to register online at www.sspr.org.
