Letter to the editor: Support Thomas and Teal for Douglas County commissioner

Posted

I’m very concerned that the growing violence in places like Denver and Aurora will infiltrate Douglas County. Denver is on pace for their most murders in a decade and Antifa rioters brutally assaulted members of a pro-police rally there on July 19. Aurora has seen sharp spikes in violent crime recently and in late July saw rioters attacking a courthouse and assaulting police officers. The common thread here is that criminals are emboldened when we don’t support law enforcement.

If we don’t remain vigilant, similar erosion to public safety could occur here in Douglas County.

It’s therefore crucial that we reelect Lora Thomas and elect George Teal for our Douglas County commissioners. Lora Thomas was the first female major in the Colorado State Patrol and is an ardent ally of our law enforcement officers. She’s a proven champion for school safety and promoter of local autonomy, independence, and our constitutional rights. George Teal is a former U.S. Army officer, resilient supporter of our brave police officers, and staunch advocate for our Second Amendment rights — as he proved as Castle Rock Town Council member.

Let’s keep Douglas County safe by electing county commissioners who share our values, support our courageous law enforcement officers, and who will preserve our constitutional rights.
