Why is an obvious pro-Democrat opinion column appearing as the lead story in the Oct. 2 edition? Has the newspaper now sold out to the Democrat Party?

Peter Jones’ article, “Strangers in a Strange Land,” could not be more obvious in its bias toward Democrat candidates. Just a few examples:

“‘Are you a Republican or a Democrat?’ … ‘I’m a Democrat,’ Eng responds without missing a beat … ‘Thank you, Jesus!’ Moore said in relief.” The section goes on to glowingly describe how Eng is on a “mission.” So, voting for a Democrat is now a religious experience?

There’s more in the next section and I quote, “The 6th District notoriously favors Republicans …” The common definition of notorious is “widely and unfavorably known.” The author intimates that it is not nice to favor Republicans. Perhaps this is just a mistaken use of an adverb?

Later the article portrays Democrat Kevin Farrell as a modern-day Don Quixote while describing his Republican opponent Carol Chambers as a “lightning-rod figure.” Jones then uses two paragraphs to highlight “controversies” about Chambers. The reader can only surmise that Farrell has no “controversies.”

Why will voters elect Democrats rather than Republicans? Who better to ask than a Democrat, Joe Rice, who is “… a self-described moderate …” and says Democrats have more “… common sense ideas …” Rice says a lot of Republicans agree with him. What do Republicans say? We don’t know because Jones does not interview any Republicans who may disagree with Rice.

We also get two nice photos of Kevin Farrell and Hank Eng speaking with voters. It all paints a very heart-warming story of how Democrats are working hard to win our votes while Republicans are obviously taking our votes for granted.

When will you run the front-page feature article about the hard-working Republican candidates?
