Jackson, Olmsted deserve our votes for fire board
Those of us who have long followed the workings of South Metro
Fire Rescue District sleep better at night since Dave Jackson was
elected to the five-member Board of Directors in May of 2008. We
know Dave to be of unparalleled integrity, honesty, and character —
a man of his handshake and his word.
As a current board member, Dave is dedicated to ensuring that
our lives and property are being protected by some of the fastest
response times in the state, and by highly trained personnel using
modern fire and rescue equipment.
Dave’s career expertise as a business manager with budget,
fiduciary, and efficiency skills have made him "the budget
watchdog" since he first began attending board meetings in 2004.
Dave abhors waste and inefficiency, and for this reason, he has
been responsible for process revisions that have led to greater
transparency and more efficient use of our property tax
dollars.
Dave is known district-wide for being quick to respond to
residents and for finding solutions their concerns. On a weekly
basis, he attends numerous city council and other meetings to
better understand all issues that affect the district.
For his excellent representation, as he now runs for
re-election, Dave Jackson is endorsed by a number of south metro
area elected leaders, including Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson
Robinson, Douglas County Sheriff Dave Weaver, Congressman Mike
Coffman, Sen. Nancy Spence, Rep. David Balmer, and Mayors Cathy
Noon, Nancy Sharpe, Jim Gunning, and Jeffrey Huff, numerous city
council members, and many district residents whom he has served
over the past two years.
In addition, many of us also know Jim Olmsted, who lived for 22
years in Arapahoe County, and is now the only candidate from
Douglas County who is running in this election. Jim has been a
district resident since 1979, and has been the owner of two small
businesses for over 25 years. Like Dave, Jim believes in
responsible fiscal management and reasonable budget
constraints.
Please take a few minutes now to mark your SMFR ballot for Dave
Jackson and Jim Olmsted and return it before May 4.
