Drama students from Valor Christian High School of Highlands Ranch will present “You Can’t Take it With You,” the classic comedy by by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 and Oct. 18 at Pinnacle Theatre, 9136 W. Bowles Ave., Littleton.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play opened in New York in 1936 and has been a constant favorite with audiences since then.

Spending a day with the Sycamore family is unlike anything else one can imagine. Grandpa Martin Vanderhof doesn’t pay taxes, which baffles an Internal Revenue Service agent, and has a wacky attitude that sets the tone for the rest of the family.

Mother Penelope write plays and paints, poorly in both cases. Father Paul makes fireworks in the basement, assisted by Mr. De Pinna. Daughter Essie Carmichael is a candy-making ballerina, while her husband Ed is a printer. Rheba is the maid and her boyfriend is Donald.

Daughter Alice Sycamore has a fiance named Tony Kirby, who comes from a well-off “proper” family. He brings them to dinner on the wrong day.

The ex-Grand Duchess Olga Karina also drops in that evening, as does Essie’s ballet teacher, Boris Kohlenkhov. Chaos!

Tickets cost $25, $18, $12 and include dessert and beverages. www.valorchristian.com.
