Families are gearing up for the latest outdoor movie and music performance in Lone Tree.

A fun, interactive performance by local artist, Doctor Noize, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28. Cory Cullinan, under the guise of his alter ego, plays multiple instruments while arranging and recording songs on the spot. His engaging and innovative approach to music is appealing to kids and adults alike.

Following the performance by Doctor Noize, attendees will watch a showing of “Planet 51.” The 2009 animated movie features an American astronaut who lands on Planet 51 thinking he’s the first to find it. To his surprise, the planet is inhabited by little green people who fear he’s there to take over their planet.

Each movie is projected onto a 24 -foot inflatable movie screen on the multipurpose playing field of Prairie Sky Park, adjacent to the Lone Tree Recreation Center. The park opens at 6 p.m. with the movie beginning at sundown. Take advantage of the food vendors, a Passport to Culture craft activity, face painters and airbrush artists.

During the event, the Lone Tree Youth Commission will be collecting gently used children’s, youth and young adult books and DVDs as part of their media drive to benefit Sky Ridge Medical Center.
