Police are seeking out more possible victims after a 22-year-old
man was accused of sexually assaulting two underage girls.
Investigators say Joseph Rios, of Lakewood, met his victims
through his job at the Sunglass Hut at Park Meadows mall. A girl
under 15 years of age filed a report with the Douglas County
Sheriff’s Office May 21 that indicated she was assaulted by him.
She then led police to another juvenile victim, who admitted that
Rios was the perpetrator.
The investigation into both cases is ongoing, but detectives are
looking for “anyone who has information about additional victims or
other information pertinent to the case” to come forward, a press
release from the sheriff’s office says.
Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives and patrol deputies arrested
Rios at his apartment in Lakewood. He was taken to the Douglas
County Detention Center and was released from custody after posting
the $50,000 bond on May 26.
