Students were back in action on Aug. 7 as school began for the 2019-20 school year in Douglas County. At Cresthill Middle School in Highlands Ranch students gathered outside the building, where they hugged friends, mingled with teachers and compared class schedules ahead of the 7:30 a.m. start time.

For seventh-grader Rowan Anderson, 12, it was the start to a new school year in a new community.

“I moved from Georgia,” he said, adding he had a good summer and was ready to start the school year.
