A pair of youngsters made history at the Summit Challenge at
SkyVenture in Lone Tree.
More than 100 professional skydivers competed Jan. 30 and 31
from all over the United States. Two Highlands Ranch children,
Justin and Kayla Tinucci, gave memorable performances.
“They are the first kids to ever win gold or silver medals in
the Free-fly and Belly Fly Pro category in the history of the
sport,” said proud mom Jennifer Tinucci. According to the
children’s mother, all 45 teams were adults, except one other kids’
team from North Carolina.
In the 2 Way VRW pro free-fly, the Tinucci siblings won a silver
medal, coming in just two points behind the team that won a gold
medal in the U.S. Nationals in October.
“This is the team that won the free-fly event jumping out of
real airplanes,” Jennifer Tinucci added.
Kayla, 12, said the Summit Challenge was one of the best wind
tunnel competitions she has have ever attended.
“My brother and I have been training very hard for it and we
were so happy with the results,” she said.
“I had a lot of fun with skydivers and tunnel fliers from all
over the United States.”
Winning four medals validated her hard work.
“I can’t wait to attend the World Challenge in England in
April,” Kayla added.
Justin, 10, won’t soon forget this competition.
“It was the best day of my life.”
