Theater will be enhanced through grant

As the City of Lone Tree’s new Arts Center moves along toward a projected August 2011 opening date, the Lone Tree Cultural Arts Foundation continues its $2.2 million capital campaign “to realize extraordinary finishes to the facility before it opens.” That goal includes the recently announced (Jan. 5) $400,000 Terrace Theatre Challenge Match.

Executive director Lisa Rigsby Peterson announced a significant lead gift of $25,000 from Park Meadows Retail Resort to launch the drive.

The Lone Tree City Council, a strong arts supporter for years, has announced a Challenge Match to contributions made by Feb. 1, up to $200,000, toward completion of the terrace venue, projected in a preliminary rental document as having a 200 to 400 seat capacity. With extra finishing touches, it will be transformed from “an informal gathering space into a formal theater venue with flexibility for concerts, performances, children’s events and more.”

The Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) corporation’s capital drive will also supply enhancement to a south garden for pre-show and intermission enjoyment and an Entry Plaza (funds committed by contractor G.E. Johnson and a group of sub contractors).

Basic construction is funded by a 2008 bond issue approved by Lone Tree voters. Coventry Development, developer of the Ridgegate Community, donated the land for the center, designed by Westlake Reed Leskosky.

It will house 500- and 200- seat theaters, the Terrace Theatre, gallery space and space for gatherings and educational programs.

For information about the challenge, or more about the center, call 720-880-2499 or visit www.lonetreearts.org.
