Press release
In
celebration of National Lemonade Day and what would have been Page
Turner’s 29th birthday, friends will host a very special
Alex’s Lemonade Stand in order to raise funds and awareness for
childhood cancer from 3-6 p.m. Aug. 20, at Silo Park in Greenwood
Village. Page Turner passed away October 19, 2007
after a three-year battle with a form of childhood cancer. Friends
of Page Turner will honor her memory and celebrate her life by
hosting a lemonade stand for the foundation so close to their
heart.
In addition to the
lemonade stand, the days festivities will also include face
painting, sidewalk chalk, bubbles and many other fun
games.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF)
emerged from the front yard lemonade stand
of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of
4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise
money to help find a cure for all children with cancer.
Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name
has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with
thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy
of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered
501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $45 million towards
fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 200
research projects nationally.
